A 73-year-old Hyde woman, Jean Higginbottom, has died following a fatal collision near Tintwistle.
Jean Higginbottom was driving a silver Renault Clio along Manchester Road when it was involved in a collision with a Nissan Pixo close to Millbrook House at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, August 19.
Emergency services, including police officers and paramedics, attended the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Despite their efforts, Jean was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the area and began enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers continue to gather evidence as part of an ongoing investigation.
Her family has been informed of her death and is being supported by specially trained officers during what is described as an extremely difficult time.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision to come forward to assist with enquiries.
