Seven people, including two police officers, were killed in a collision on the A66 near Middlesbrough. Local MP Anna Turley said the community is “in shock and devastation” as tributes continue for those who lost their lives.
A silent prayer vigil will be held at St John the Evangelist Church in South Bank in memory of the victims. The service will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be led by Father Malcolm Lockey. Members of the public are invited to attend to light candles, pray, or spend time in quiet reflection. Prayers will be offered hourly for the victims, their families, and all those affected by the tragedy.
Donations for the families of PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, have now exceeded £100,000. The fundraiser was launched by the Cleveland Police Federation to support their loved ones following the fatal crash. Tributes describe both officers as dedicated colleagues and valued members of the policing community.
